Combination pram, umbrella pram, city pram... With so many choices, it can be hard to know which one is right for you. To help you decide which pushchair to choose according to your needs and lifestyle, we have prepared a short guide to the different types of pushchairs available.
The combination pushchair: progressive and very comfortable
Also known as a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 pushchair, this model consists of a frame onto which a carrycot, for the 3-in-1 models, a cosy or a hammock is clipped. It can therefore be used from birth and ensures maximum comfort for your baby, who can sleep in the carrycot in a fully reclined position during walks. The cosy, which also serves as a car seat, allows you to move your baby from the car to the pushchair without waking him up.
It is made for you if :
- you are looking for an evolving model that will accompany your child from birth to 3 years old;
- you plan to go for long walks and you need good comfort;
- you don't need to use public transport, as it has the disadvantage of being bulky and heavy.
Cane prams: for the 2nd age
Compact and light, the pushchair is reserved for children from 9-10 months, possibly 6 months if the backrest is reclining. Once folded, it doesn't take up much space, which is ideal if you live in the city or don't have much room to store it at home. It is more of a pushchair as it has small wheels and no suspension, which makes it less comfortable than other models. Choose models with a hammock that has several positions.
It is suitable for you if :
- your child knows how to sit up on his own ;
- you travel in the city and on public transport;
- you will only use it occasionally and for short journeys.
The city pushchair: compact and comfortable
Compact, light and easy to handle, the city pram resembles a pushchair but is more comfortable and sturdy. Today, the vast majority of models offer a fully reclining hammock, which means they can be used from birth. The best known is the BABYZEN Yoyo pram, which perfectly combines style, comfort and practicality. BABYZEN even offers packs for newborns with a cosy hammock or a carrycot that can be clipped onto the frame.
The city pram is for you if:
-
you live in the city and need a pram that can fit into small streets and public transport;
-
you are looking for a model that can be used from birth and takes up little space in the boot or garage when folded;
-
you are looking for a lightweight pram that is easy to transport.
The all-terrain pushchair: for all roads
It is equipped with large wheels, usually 3, very good suspension and a well-padded seat, so that it can be used on all types of roads while ensuring great comfort for baby. It is not suitable for a toddler from birth, but on some models it is possible to add a cosy or a carrycot.
It is made for you if :
-
you live in the countryside and the roads for walking are rocky and uneven;
-
you go for long walks in the forest or on paths and want to give your baby maximum comfort;
-
you have room to store it as it is quite heavy and cumbersome;
-
you like to go jogging with the pushchair.
The multiple pushchair: for twins or children of similar ages
With two seats, one next to the other or one behind the other, this type of pram is ideal for twins or children who are close in age. If you have an infant, choose a model that allows you to attach a cosy to one of the seats.
It is made for you if :
-
you have twins or 2 small children.
